Founded in 1639, Newport was an important port city, a center of the slave trade, a fashionable resort and the summer home of the Gilded Age rich.

The Preservation Society offers a $15 discount on standard memberships for active, reserve, or retired military; current students, and Newport residents. All discounts require a valid proof of status and are in-person only. Not valid on Pineapple or Premium Memberships.

As a member, you can enjoy unlimited general admission to our properties and do not need tickets. Members can visit The Breakers without a timed reservation, simply bring your membership card for admission.

Members receive discounts on specialty tours, which must be purchased for a specific date and time. We currently offer the following specialty tours:
The easiest way to make your reservations is online through the Member Portal section of our ticketing system, but you are always welcome to call or our membership office at 401-847-1000, ext. 111, or members@newportmansions.org. Jamie, Kat, or Sam will be happy to answer any questions and assist you with putting together your perfect visit to the Newport Mansions!
Your membership is active as soon as your purchase is complete. While you will receive an email confirmation and/or temporary membership card immediately, the membership team will print and mail a permanent card to the address provided upon purchase.
Please allow two to three weeks after purchasing your membership to receive your card in the mail.
If you are a current member but do not have your card, please present photo ID to the admissions staff at the mansion.
Memberships are valid for one year after the date of purchase. We invite you to renew your membership annually and continue your support for the Preservation Society. An email invitation to renew your membership will be sent in the month preceding your membership expiration. If you would like to receive a mailed renewal reminder, please call or email the membership office.

Becoming a member is easy. You can purchase your membership online before you visit, or in person on the day of your visit wherever we are selling tickets at our open properties. You can also call our Membership Office at (401) 847-1000 ext. 111.
Memberships are valid for one full year from the month of purchase.
Membership gives you free, unlimited access to our general admission properties without the need for a timed reservation at The Breakers.
While specialty tours are not included in your membership, members receive a discount on tickets for these offerings. Visit our Become a Member page to see a full list of benefits or our Current Members page for how to use them. Current specialty tours include Hunter House, Chepstow, The Servant Life Tour at The Elms, the Beneath The Breakers Tour, and the Preservation in Progress Tour at The Breakers.
You should expect your permanent membership materials to arrive 2-3 weeks after your purchase.
If you purchase your membership onsite at the Newport Mansions the day of your visit, you will receive a temporary membership card that can be used immediately. If you purchase your new membership online, you will receive an automatic email with a PDF copy of your temporary membership card, which can be used right away for admission at any of the Newport Mansion properties.
The number of named individuals on a membership depends on the membership level. See our Become a Member page for more details.
No. Memberships are non-transferable and are only valid for the named individuals and children (when applicable) listed on the membership card. One exception is that we do allow a caregiver to use the Family membership to accompany children, provided they have a written note from one of the named members. For the protection of your membership investment, we ask that you provide photo ID to accompany your membership card.
You have up to seven (7) days after the first use of your tickets to put the value of the tickets towards the cost of a membership. This offer is for in-person only, as we ask that you turn in your tickets at the time of the upgrade. Only the tickets of those to be included on the membership can be put towards the cost.
Yes, you can upgrade your membership to a higher level at any time during the membership year, or at the time of your membership renewal. You can do this in person wherever we are selling tickets at our open properties, or over the phone by calling our Membership Office at 401-847-1000 ext. 111.
If you happen to visit without your membership card, show your photo ID at our open properties and we can look up your membership information. If you have lost your card and would like a replacement card mailed, please contact our Membership Office at members@newportmansions.org, or by calling (401) 847-1000 ext.111. A replacement card will arrive in the mail within 1-2 weeks. We do not replace guest passes.
We are committed to working together to create a safe experience for our staff, members, and visitors. Members and visitors may not engage in verbal or physical harassment or discriminatory or threatening behavior that endangers staff, visitors, artwork or any other Museum property.
If a member or visitor of their party fails to follow the Newport Mansions’ guidelines and instructions, they may be denied entry or required to leave the property.
